All models of the improved V-Class introduced in Japan will be equipped with a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder clean diesel engine that produces a maximum output of 163 PS, combined with the 9G-TRONIC.

The V-Class, the first European minivan introduced to Japan in 1998, created a new segment called the premium minivan with its wide, square styling, spacious, high-quality interior space, and flexible seating.

After undergoing full model changes in 2003 and 2015, it has achieved comfort and functionality worthy of the name of a Mercedes-Benz minivan, with features such as power sliding doors on both sides, seats with integrated three-point seat belts, flexible seat arrangements, and an update to the second generation of the interactive infotainment system “MBUX.” The range of equipment and dedicated accessories has also been expanded to meet the needs of Japanese customers, making it a long-selling model with cumulative sales of approximately 30,000 units.

The new and improved V-Class, which has just been introduced in Japan, has been updated in every aspect, including interior and exterior design, ride comfort, and functional equipment. It has been reborn as a luxurious and advanced Mercedes-Benz minivan with excellent convenience and comfort.

All models of the updated V-Class are equipped with a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder “OM654” clean diesel engine that produces a maximum output of 163 PS and a maximum torque of 380 Nm. It is mated to the 9-speed automatic transmission “9G-TRONIC” that achieves excellent energy efficiency and comfort.

The front section features a new, larger radiator grille, and all models are equipped with multi-beam LED headlights.

The exterior has evolved into a more powerful design thanks to the enlarged radiator grille. Newly designed headlights using multi-beam LEDs have been introduced to all models. The radiator grille of the “V 220 d”, “V 220 d Long” and “V 220 d Extra Long” models features the latest Mercedes-design star pattern grille combined with two louvers.

The high-end models, the “V 220 d Exclusive Long Premium Suite” and “V 220 d Exclusive Extra Long Black Suite,” feature a three-pointed star bonnet mascot and a special front design featuring five chrome louvers. The “illuminated radiator grille” and “AMG Line Package” are standard on the high-end models and can be selected as options on other models.

The full-LED rear combination lamps now feature clear light covers and a new design with black inserts. Mercedes-Benz lettering has been added above the chrome trim strip. All models are fitted with newly designed aluminum wheels.

Exterior colors include new solid paint finishes such as Jupiter Red, Vintage Blue, and Alpine Gray, as well as metallic paint finishes such as Kalahari Gold, Sodalite Blue, and High-Tech Silver.

All models come standard with genuine leather or nappa leather seats, and the second and third rows can be arranged in a variety of ways to suit different uses.

All models feature a redesigned front-seat interior, a widescreen cockpit, and a new capacitive steering wheel. The V 220 d, V 220 d Long, and V 220 d Extra Long models feature full-length leather seats and a new dark gray open-pore olive wood-look interior trim, while the AMG Line package features carbon-look interior trim.

The “V 220 d Exclusive Long Premium Suite” and “V 220 d Exclusive Extra Long Black Suite” come equipped with dazzling aluminum interior trim and nappa leather seats as standard, creating a luxurious interior space.

The second-row seats are also standard equipment, featuring reclining and relaxation functions, seat ventilation (including seat heating), footrests, headrest cushions, leg rests, footrest supports, a folding table, cup holders, a USB-C port, and a smartphone tray.

All models are available with a variety of seating arrangements for the five seats in the second and third rows, excluding the driver and passenger seats. In addition to being used as a seven-seater, it can also be configured as a chauffeur-driven model with only two rear seats, or the second and third rows can be removed entirely to allow for luggage storage, making it possible to arrange the vehicle to suit various uses.

While supporting flexible seat arrangements, safety has also been taken into consideration. All seats, including those in the second and third rows, are equipped with integrated three-point seat belts, and center airbags and rear window bags have been added to all models. All models are also equipped with power sliding doors on both sides.

Equipped with two 12.3-inch widescreen displays

The interior of the improved new Mercedes-Benz V-Class.

The cockpit features a 12.3-inch widescreen display for the cockpit display and media display, and the instrument cluster design has also been revamped.

The previous model was equipped with a 5.5-inch cockpit display and a 10.25-inch media display, but the new model uses a 12.3-inch widescreen display for both the cockpit display and media display. The media display is now touchscreen compatible. The latest interactive infotainment system, MBUX, is also standard equipment, and the instrument cluster has been redesigned with an advanced interior design.

The newly introduced “capacitive steering wheel” is equipped with functionality that allows navigation, various settings in the instrument cluster, and settings for the safety driving assistance system to be controlled from the palm of your hand.

The hands-off detection when using “Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC,” which previously was determined by torque applied to the steering wheel, has been changed to a capacitive method, so that the system recognizes that the driver is holding the steering wheel even when there is no torque applied to the steering wheel. In addition, all models are equipped as standard with a “steering wheel heater” that quickly warms the steering wheel to increase comfort.
