PEUGEOT e-2008 GT

The EX30 is heavier

The size of both the Volvo EX30 and the Peugeot e-2008 corresponds to that of a compact SUV. Because they have large batteries installed under the floor, the SUV style is well suited to EVs. Both vehicles have the same height, but the EX30 is shorter and wider, giving it a more solid stance. Conversely, the e-2008, with its longer length and slimmer width, should look smart.

On the other hand, there is a big difference in weight, with the EX30 being 160 kg heavier than the e-2008. The EX30 also has larger, flatter tires.

Body size = Length 4235mm x Width 1835mm x Height 1550mm

Wheelbase = 2650mm

Vehicle weight = 1790kg

Tire size = 245/45R19

Body size = Length 4305mm x Width 1770mm x Height 1550mm

Wheelbase = 2610mm

Vehicle weight = 1630kg

Tire size = 215/55R18

The EV-only EX30 has a long driving range that can handle long trips

Both vehicles are powered by a lithium-ion battery and an electric motor, but they have opposite drive systems: the EX30 is rear-wheel drive (RWD) and the e-2008 is front-wheel drive (FWD).

As mentioned in the previous section, there is a large weight difference between the two cars, and the reason for this is the difference in power and range. The EX30 has higher output and torque than the e-2008, and in fact has twice the power. What’s more, the EX30 is equipped with a large-capacity battery.

The battery capacity of both vehicles is 69kWh for the EX30 and 50kWh for the e2008. The difference in weight mentioned in the previous section is largely due to the difference in battery capacity. And as for the all-important range, the EX30 is 560km and the e-2008 is 380km (both in WLTC mode).

Drive battery type = Lithium-ion battery

Rated output = 75.0 kW

Maximum output = 272 PS / 6500-8000 rpm

Maximum torque = 343 Nm / 5345 rpm

Transmission = 1-speed fixed

Drive system = RWD

Drive battery type = Lithium-ion battery

Rated output = 57.0 kW

Maximum output = 136 PS / 5500 rpm

Maximum torque = 260 Nm / 300 ~ 3674 rpm

Transmission = 1-speed fixed

Drive system = FWD

The EX30 has the best cost performance

The vehicle price of the e-2008 is 174,000 yen more expensive than the EX30. Considering the powertrain, range, and other EV performance, the EX30 seems to offer better cost performance. However, the EX30 is a dedicated EV, while the e-2008 is one variation of the “2008 Series.” If you are considering the e-2008, keep in mind that there are also gasoline and diesel options.

Vehicle price

Volvo EX30: 5.59 million yen

Peugeot e-2008 GT: 5.764 million yen

Volvo EX30 vs Mercedes-Benz EQA

A spec comparison of the latest fully electric compact SUVs, the Volvo EX30 and the Mercedes-Benz EQA

European manufacturers are actively developing electric vehicles (EVs). The trend for EVs is SUVs, and considering that large batteries can be mounted in the floor, this body type is a good fit. This time, we will compare the performance of the Volvo EX30 and the Mercedes-Benz EQA, both compact SUVs.
