Reflecting customer feedback

The Ghost Series II retains the appeal of the second-generation Ghost that debuted in 2020, but has been improved to reflect customer feedback.

The Ghost is the most important model representing Rolls-Royce during the Goodwood era. The first generation was released in 2009, when there was a growing demand for new luxury cars, and it became even more popular with younger customers than the Phantom. The second-generation Ghost, released in 2020, has evolved significantly without changing the concept of the first generation. The 6.75-liter V12 twin-turbo gasoline engine mounted under the seemingly simple design has also been updated.

The second-generation Ghost not only boasts an aesthetically pleasing design, but is also considered the most advanced Rolls-Royce ever built. In particular, the Planar Suspension System, which took 10 years to perfect, provides passengers with a ride that feels like flying.

Four years after its launch, the Ghost has now undergone major improvements. Rolls-Royce has gathered feedback from Ghost customers and confirmed its potential as a bespoke platform that allows owners to express their individuality, as well as its dynamic engineering.

Rolls-Royce heeded these requests and developed Ghost Series II, featuring subtle but significant design refinements, a V12 powertrain, all-wheel steering and four-wheel drive.

New design introduced from “Spectre”

New designs have been introduced to the front and rear lights. The taillights in particular are inspired by the fully electric coupe “Specter” that was released earlier. The body color is a new color, “Mastic Blue.”

Ghost Series II features a monolithic design that embodies the essence of Rolls-Royce. The front section features the iconic Rolls-Royce “Illuminated Pantheon Grille,” creating a clean, contemporary look.

The headlights and daytime running lights have been redesigned, and a flowing line from the bottom of the grille to the edge of the front fenders emphasises the car’s 2148mm width. The lower front section forms the base of the Pantheon grille, which, with the addition of a new chrome finish, also functions as a base for the Spirit of Ecstasy statue.

The rear section also features new taillight shapes, creating a beautiful harmony between the side and rear. The rear design is inspired by the Spectre, Rolls-Royce’s first fully electric model, and features two expressive vertical light panels with curved chrome elements discreetly engraved with the “RR” monogram.

The car is fitted with newly designed 22-inch 9-spoke wheels, which can be chosen from a full polished or partial polished wheel surface.

This time, a designer-created exterior color has been introduced to the existing “ready-to-wear colors” of over 44,000 colors and the “bespoke color service” that allows customers to create their own unique color. The metallic finish shown here, named “Mustique Blue,” evokes the colors and glamor of the Caribbean island from which it takes its name. The use of glass and mica flakes creates a shimmering effect reminiscent of sunlight reflecting off tropical waters.

The color is a reproduction of the same blue found on the 1929 Phantom II Continental prototype, which was built for Henry Royce’s personal use and featured the first pearlescent paint ever made from crushed fish scales.

An exquisite interior with the ultimate in refinement

The interior features a new design around the central information display, and also integrates the SPIRIT operating system with Rolls-Royce’s Whispers app for owners.

The interior features a central information display housed in a newly designed pillar-to-pillar glass panel, incorporating the latest SPIRIT operating system. Starting with the Series II, the color of the digital instrument dials can be customized to match the interior or exterior.

SPIRIT also integrates Whispers, a private members’ application exclusively for Rolls-Royce owners, allowing customers to send destinations directly to their vehicle, locate their vehicle and lock it remotely.

Entertainment and connectivity have also been significantly upgraded. Up to two streaming devices can now be connected to the rear seat screens, allowing independent entertainment selection for each screen. Seat functions such as massage and heating/cooling can also be controlled via the rear seat screens. The rear seat infotainment system also supports pairing with any type of Bluetooth headset.

Located next to the central information display on the passenger side is the newly designed “Spirit of Ecstasy Clock Cabinet.” This glass case houses an analogue clock and an illuminated, mirror-finish stainless steel Spirit of Ecstasy statue. The Spirit of Ecstasy figurine is mounted on a pedestal with a matte black back panel and high-gloss side panels that create a reflective effect.

The “illuminated fascia” that stretches across the entire width of the passenger seat is the first to be introduced on the Ghost in 2020. Ghost Series II features a new design inspired by the starry sky, reminiscent of time-lapse astronomical photography. Customers can also create their own original illuminated fascia in collaboration with Rolls-Royce bespoke designers.

Introducing “Duality Twill” made from bamboo

The fabric lineup has been expanded with the addition of Duality Twill, a rayon fabric inspired by the bamboo groves in the gardens associated with Sir Henry Royce.

Rolls-Royce has now developed a new material for the interior called “Grey Stained Ash.” This richly grained, natural, open-pore wood is hand-dyed and infused with tiny metallic particles to create a unique, contemporary shimmer. The new technology took Rolls-Royce more than four years to develop.

The fabric range has been expanded with Duality Twill, a new rayon fabric made from bamboo. The Rolls-Royce design team visited Le Jardin des Méditerranées, the Mediterranean gardens on the French Riviera adjacent to Sir Henry Royce’s former winter residence, Villa Mimosa, during the development of the gardens, and the bamboo groves that characterise the gardens served as inspiration for the development of this innovative fabric.

The twill textile is embroidered with an abstract duality graphic, which overlaps the initials of the brand’s founders. The design, which evokes the lines of a sailing yacht’s ropes, also pays a subtle homage to the French Riviera.

Duality Twill was developed in collaboration with master weavers currently based at the Home of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood, and took over a year to develop. The Duality Twill fabric, which is used throughout the interior, is an incredibly complex 20-hour process that involves up to 2.2 million stitches and 11 miles of thread.

Each panel is cut with a specially developed laser to prevent thread fraying. All panels are carefully positioned and seamlessly sewn together before being used as the seat upholstery. The base textile is available in three colors: lilac, chocolate, and black, and the thread can be selected from 51 different colors, allowing customers to customize it to suit their own personality.

“Extended” offers spacious rear seats

The Ghost Extended Series II model also comes with 170mm more rear seat space, and the reclining Serenity seats are also available.

The Ghost Extended Series II is available for customers seeking the ultimate rear seat environment. While maintaining the elegant silhouette of the Ghost Series II, the rear door and opening have been enlarged, increasing rear seat space by 170mm.

Ghost Extended Series II customers will also be offered reclining “Serenity Seats” inspired by the cabins of private jets. Like the Ghost Series II, the rear cabin can be equipped with a dedicated champagne cooler. The optimal serving temperature for champagne is 6°C, while for vintage champagne, it is 11°C. The champagne cooler operates in two cooling modes: 6°C and 11°C.
