The MINI John Cooper Works Electric (pictured) and MINI John Cooper Works Aceman, which were unveiled for the first time at the Paris Motor Show, are equipped with fully electric powertrains that deliver a maximum output of 261 PS.
As previously announced, MINI gave the world premiere of two new John Cooper Works (JCW) models at the Paris Motor Show, which is being held at the Palace of Versailles from October 14th to 20th, 2024. The MINI John Cooper Works Electric and MINI John Cooper Works Aceman are equipped with fully electric powertrains that deliver a maximum output of 261 PS (190 kW) and a maximum torque of 350 Nm.
The MINI John Cooper Works Electric, based on the MINI Cooper 3-door, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, while the MINI John Cooper Works Aceman takes 6.4 seconds. Both models have a top speed electronically limited to 200 km/h.
Equipped with a 54.2 kWh high-capacity high-voltage battery, the MINI John Cooper Works Electric has a maximum range of 371 km, while the MINI John Cooper Works Aceman has a maximum range of 355 km. Stefan Richmann, head of the MINI brand, gave the following explanation about the launch of the fully electric JCW:
“The addition of the MINI John Cooper Works with its new all-electric powertrain marks a new era in MINI performance and driving dynamics. Combining the heritage and individuality of the MINI brand with the latest all-electric technology, we are creating a unique driving experience that will captivate our customers.”
Introducing the “Boost Paddle” that adds 20kW
By pressing the boost and paddles on the sports steering wheel, the “Go-Kart Mode” is activated, giving the driver an extra 20kW of power.
MINI has actively incorporated the know-how it has cultivated in various motorsport series into the JCW model. In addition to specially reinforced suspension, the new car also features an “Electric Boost” function that delivers powerful power during acceleration. Pressing the “Boost Paddle” located on the sports steering wheel activates “Go-Kart Mode,” which provides an extra 20kW of power for overtaking on the highway or when driving on a circuit.
The JCW’s specially designed suspension maximizes the go-kart feel that is a MINI signature, delivering agile handling. Both models come standard with high-performance, high-grip tires, and the powerful braking system, featuring a Chili Red with a white “JCW” logo, provides precise stopping power even in demanding driving conditions.
Gloss black octagonal grille
The centerpiece of the exterior is the high-gloss black octagonal grille, which gives off a massive impression, and the roof is available in two color patterns.
MINI’s first fully electric performance model also has a special exterior design befitting the “John Cooper Works” name, with a high-gloss black octagonal grille at the front. The red, white, and black “JCW” logo is reminiscent of a checkered flag in motorsports. Welcome projections mounted on the exterior mirrors project an illuminated logo onto the road as you enter the vehicle.
The LED headlights’ daytime running lights now feature horizontal bars exclusive to the JCW signature, clearly highlighting the car’s enhanced driving performance. Black side skirts, aero blades on the C-pillars, and a larger rear spoiler significantly improve aerodynamics, especially at high speeds. The rear section is fitted with a red vertical reflector and diffuser, adding a motorsports feel to the rear apron.
The MINI John Cooper Works Electric is fitted with 18-inch wheels, while the MINI John Cooper Works Aceman is fitted with 19-inch wheels.
Black and red cockpit
The interior is unified in JCW’s signature black and red colors, with a black base combined with a racy red checker pattern and contrast stitching.
The interior also features a JCW-exclusive colour scheme. The dashboard textile surface features a red checkered pattern on a black base. When the ambient lighting is switched on, a special light graphic illuminates the panoramic roof, creating a special ambience.
The driver’s seat and passenger seat are primarily made of black synthetic leather, with multicolored woven fabric on the shoulders and red accent stitching.
The high-resolution OLED centre display shows all driving-related data. Driver and passengers can configure the climate control, media, telephone and navigation settings via the large, 240mm diameter circular display. The MINI Navigation Package provides support with 3D visuals and extended views, and displays the current traffic situation interactively. Parking information, including digital payment options, is also provided.
