MINI JOHN COOPER WORKS
MINI JOHN COOPER WORKS CONVERTIBLE
Gasoline-powered “JCW” lineup complete

The JCW lineup is now complete with the addition of the MINI John Cooper Works and MINI John Cooper Works Convertible to the previously introduced MINI John Cooper Works Countryman ALL4.
In 2024, all MINIs will be reborn as new generation models. The new MINI series consists of three models: the MINI Cooper, which comes in three body types (3-door, 5-door, and convertible), the MINI Aceman, which is an EV-only lineup, and the SUV-type MINI Countryman.
The MINI John Cooper Works and MINI John Cooper Works Convertible, now available in Japan, are high-performance models that combine motorsport-derived driving performance with unique, exclusive styling. They are equipped with a 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder MINI TwinPower Turbo engine, delivering a maximum output of 231 PS (170 kW) and a maximum torque of 380 Nm.
The front wheels are driven via a 7-speed DCT and the new JCW is fitted with a sports suspension tuned specifically for the JCW. The new JCW’s driving performance has been significantly improved, providing outstanding driving stability on all road surfaces and excellent driving performance on the circuit.
With the addition of the MINI John Cooper Works and MINI John Cooper Works Convertible, along with the MINI John Cooper Works Countryman ALL4 already on sale, the gasoline-engine John Cooper Works (JCW) lineup is now complete.
Introducing MINI’s latest design language

Like the previous models, the theme is “Charismatic Simplicity,” and by reducing components such as chrome parts, the car pursues an essential MINI look.
The MINI John Cooper Works and MINI John Cooper Works Convertible also adopt the new MINI design language that will be introduced from 2024. While inheriting the DNA of the MINI brand, the essential MINI values are clearly and elegantly incorporated into the exterior.
MINI’s new design language, “Charismatic Simplicity,” focuses on the essence of what makes a MINI by deliberately reducing the number of components, creating an emotional and intuitive identity. The new JCW also adopts themes common to the new MINI, such as clean surfaces and the front grille with its complex octagonal contours. Iconic elements, such as the classically shaped headlights, have been carried over from the previous model, resulting in an exterior design that is instantly recognizable as a MINI.
Another central element of the new MINI design language is the selection of materials with sustainability in mind, with forward-looking materials being used, such as recycled polyester and recycled aluminium, instead of chrome and leather.
The signature lighting allows the driver to choose from three patterns for the front and tail lights, while the “Welcome/Good-bye” lighting causes the front and tail lights to flash as if to greet the driver when approaching or leaving the car with the key in hand.
An interior that actively incorporates recycled materials

A large circular organic EL center display, from which all operations can be performed, is located in the center of the cockpit. The dashboard is made of recycled polyester, reminiscent of textiles.
The interior of the new generation MINI has been completely digitalized. The instrument panel located behind the steering wheel has been abolished, and all information necessary for driving is displayed on a head-up display. Various elements have been stripped away, and cleverly designed, high-quality components have been used to achieve good forward visibility and a spacious interior space.
The gently curved dashboard is the first to feature a new textile-like material. Made from recycled polyester, the new material is produced using a knitting-like manufacturing process, making it easy to maintain its beauty even when it gets a little dirty.
The large circular center display, which uses cutting-edge OLED technology, is made of high-quality glass with a diameter of 240mm. Its highly sensitive touch function allows for intuitive operation similar to that of a smartphone. In the main menu, each function is arranged horizontally as a widget, and can be operated by swiping or touching. Navigation with AR function, media, phone, air conditioning, various settings, and more can all be controlled from this circular OLED display.
It is equipped with a wide range of exclusive features, including a JCW sports steering wheel with paddle shifters, JCW sports seats, JCW-exclusive red bonnet stripes, roof and mirror cap colors, JCW-exclusive wheels (17-inch and 18-inch), a “JCW” emblem, red calipers with the “JCW” logo, and JCW sports brakes.
