Mercedes-Benz is currently promoting the transition to electrification in markets around the world, including Japan, with the aim of realizing a sustainable society. In addition, the company is actively investing in the development of charging infrastructure, which is essential for electrification.

The newly established Mercedes-Benz High Power Charging Japan LLC aims to provide all EV users with a unique Mercedes-Benz charging experience through the installation of a High Power Charging Network (HPC). The company plans to deploy 50 fast charging stations with 100 outlets at 25 locations nationwide by the end of 2026.

By establishing high-power rapid charging infrastructure (HPC), the company aims to significantly reduce EV charging times and increase convenience for EV users. Furthermore, by promoting the introduction of HPC mainly in the three major metropolitan areas (Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka) where there is a high demand for rapid charging, the company aims to eliminate concerns about charging during long-distance travel or due to a lack of basic charging facilities, thereby increasing the practicality of EVs.

The new company has entered into a business partnership with PowerX Corporation regarding the installation and operation of HPC. The two companies will proceed with joint discussions and considerations. PowerX manufactures and sells large-scale storage batteries, provides EV charging station services, develops and manufactures electric carriers, and is engaged in the power supply business, including renewable energy.
