World premiere planned for 2025
The new Mercedes-Benz CLA, which will be available with two powertrains, EV and hybrid, is scheduled to have its world premiere in 2025. In the video, CEO Ola Källenius appears and explains the development status.
Mercedes-Benz has released a development video for the next-generation Mercedes-Benz CLA, filmed at its development and testing facility in Immendingen, Germany. In the roughly 10-minute video, Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Källenius, along with host Sarah Herrmann, reveal details of the new CLA, which is scheduled to be unveiled in 2025.
The all-new CLA, which will be unveiled under heavy camouflage, is the first of a new generation of Mercedes-Benz models. Equipped with an innovative all-electric powertrain, it has been designed and developed to set new standards in terms of range, efficiency, and charging speed. A highly efficient hybrid model that combines an internal combustion engine with a 48V system will also be available.
CEO Källenius added the following about the new CLA:
“The new CLA marks a new era for Mercedes-Benz, a significant step forward in every respect, just as our customers have come to expect from Mercedes in this segment. The adoption of the MMA (Mercedes Modular Architecture) has given us maximum flexibility in development.”
“The CLA will be available in cutting-edge fully electric and hybrid versions, and will feature the in-house developed operating system MB.OS, making it the most intelligent car in Mercedes-Benz’s history.”
Exterior reminiscent of the “Concept CLA”
The new CLA was unveiled under heavy camouflage, but its details are said to incorporate design elements from the “Concept CLA-Class” unveiled in 2023.
The new CLA was unveiled this time with the vehicle details hidden, but it was revealed that the distinctive headlight shape and other features incorporate elements of the “Concept CLA-Class” that had its world premiere at the 2023 IAA Mobility 2023.
The EV version incorporates technology from the Vision EQXX concept car unveiled in 2022. The next-generation fully electric powertrain was developed in-house by Mercedes-Benz, and is claimed to achieve high performance and efficiency. Combined with a newly developed two-speed transmission, it is said to provide a perfect balance between sporty driving performance at high speeds and a long cruising range.
The hybrid version combines a compact internal combustion engine with 48V technology and a newly developed electric transmission to deliver an efficient and comfortable driving experience, making it a great competitive advantage in regions where charging infrastructure is lacking.
The new CLA is the first model to feature the all-new Mercedes-Benz Operating System (MB.OS), which includes the AI-powered MBUX virtual assistant, a groundbreaking system that provides natural, intuitive operation and proactive vehicle support.
