Elegant narrow body

The Mercedes-AMG GT 43 Coupe features a specially designed narrow body with a width of 1,930 mm. Sharp front and rear fenders emphasize its elegant character.

The Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe is a performance luxury model that combines dynamic driving performance, sportiness on the circuit, and excellent comfort. The GT 43, which will be introduced in Japan this time, will debut in the home country in April 2024 as an additional model of the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe.

The exterior design of the GT 43 incorporates exclusive details that differentiate it from other AMG GT model series. Particularly eye-catching is the newly shaped front apron with large air inlets spanning the entire width of the vehicle. The narrow body, measuring 1,930 mm in width, has narrow front and rear fenders and a reduced track width, emphasizing the car’s elegant character. The front fenders and rear apron are also exclusive to the GT 43 and feature round double tailpipe trims.

The dynamic proportions of the Mercedes-AMG GT Coupe, including a long wheelbase, short overhangs, a steeply raked windscreen, a long bonnet, and a cabin offset to the rear, remain intact. 20-inch AMG aluminum wheels are standard, with 21-inch forged aluminum wheels available as an option.

The low-slung, powerful rear section features eye-catching LED rear combination lamps with three three-dimensional graphics. The slim, horizontally extending lamp design accentuates the wide and low styling of the rear.

It also comes equipped with an electrically retractable rear spoiler. When deployed, it improves aerodynamic performance and adds a bold accent to the styling that is characteristic of a sports car. When retracted, it fits neatly into the body lines without compromising the styling. If you select the optional “AMG Driving Package”, AMG yellow brake calipers and a high-gloss black rear wing spoiler will be installed.

Aircraft-inspired cockpit

The interior, with its “hyper analog” design that combines analog and digital elements, incorporates the DNA of AMG high-performance cars while achieving a luxurious finish through the use of high-quality materials and craftsmanship. The symmetrical dashboard, inspired by aircraft, features a powerful wing-shaped design. Together with the turbine nozzle-type air outlets, it gives the viewer a sporty impression.

The center of the wide center console features the “NACA duct” design, a design icon that inherits the DNA of motorsports. The 11.9-inch vertical media display blends seamlessly with the NACA duct design. The 12.3-inch digital cockpit display is housed in a three-dimensional visor, creating what is touted as a “hyper analog” cockpit.

The interior trim is a black piano lacquer look, and the seats are finished in nappa leather with accent stitching. The roof liner is available in standard black (fabric), but if you select the optional “Panoramic Roof Package” and the interior color “Nappa Leather Crystal White/Black”, it will also be available in black (MICROCUT).

The twin-spoke “AMG Performance Steering Wheel (Nappa leather)” is also standard equipment. With its boldly tapered grip, flat bottom shape, large aluminum paddle shifters, and the latest design “AMG Drive Control Switch,” operability during sporty driving has been greatly improved.

“2+2” specification with rear seats is standard

The standard "2+2" configuration allows passengers up to 150cm tall to ride in the car, and by folding down the rear seats, the luggage compartment can be expanded to a maximum of 675 liters.

The AMG-exclusive sports seats (nappa leather) are standard equipment, featuring a light and slim design with a clever combination of layers and creases. The driver’s and passenger’s seats are also equipped with seat ventilators (including seat heater functions), and the seat shape is designed to reduce fatigue even during long drives, allowing for comfortable cruising. The seat colors are available in four standard interior colors, and one color can be selected from the optional interior colors (with diamond stitching).

The optional “AMG Performance Seats” feature a racing design with integrated headrests, and the large protruding side bolsters support sporty driving by maintaining a precise driving posture. The GT 43 can be chosen from five interior colors (including diamond stitching) set for the “AMG exclusive sports seats.”

The GT 43 is available as a standard “2+2” configuration, allowing four passengers to ride with the foldable rear seats, for customers who want practicality and convenience in a sports car. By folding down the rear seats, the luggage room can be expanded to a maximum of 675L. However, passengers up to 150cm tall can sit in the rear seats (up to 135cm tall when a child seat is installed).

Introducing electric exhaust gas turbo

The AMG 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder turbo engine incorporates the "electric exhaust gas turbocharger" technology derived from F1, achieving outstanding response across the entire rev range.

The AMG 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder turbo engine incorporates the “electric exhaust gas turbocharger” technology derived from F1, achieving outstanding response across the entire rev range.

The Mercedes-AMG GT 43 Coupe is equipped with an AMG-designed 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder turbo engine that produces a maximum output of 310 kW (421 PS) and a maximum torque of 500 Nm. Equipped with an electric exhaust gas turbocharger, technology derived from the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team, it delivers sharp response across the entire speed range. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is estimated at 4.6 seconds.

The Electric Exhaust Gas Turbo is a technology derived from Formula 1, and is directly based on the system used for many years by the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team in F1. The Electric Exhaust Gas Turbo’s electric motor is approximately 4cm thick and is integrated directly onto the turbocharger shaft between the exhaust turbine wheel and the intake compressor wheel.

This motor electronically drives the turbocharger shaft directly, accelerating the compressor wheel. This acceleration continues until the compressor wheel is driven by the exhaust flow, just like a normal turbocharger. This has significantly improved response speed from idling speed across the entire engine speed range. This has resulted in a more natural engine response to accelerator operation, allowing for more dynamic driving enjoyment.

The electrification of the turbocharger has the effect of increasing torque at low rpm, improving agility and acceleration from a standstill. Even when you take your foot off the accelerator or brake, the electric exhaust gas turbo can maintain boost pressure at all times, making it possible to achieve quick, uninterrupted response.

The rear wheels are driven via the “AMG Speedshift MCT” 9-speed automatic transmission. By using a wet multi-plate clutch instead of a conventional torque converter, low inertia and excellent response are achieved. It responds instantly to the driver’s accelerator operation, and has the appeal of a direct feeling similar to a manual transmission.
