LEXUS LFAⅡ or LFR

Street specs likely to generate powerful downforce

The "supercar" that will race around the Nürburgring will likely be named the Lexus LFA II or LFR.

The Toyota “supercar” that will race around the Nürburgring will likely be named the Lexus LFA II or LFR.

The road-going Lexus LFA prototype that appeared during high-speed testing at the Nürburgring shares many similarities with the Lexus GR GT3 Concept unveiled in early 2022. The long hood and cabin positioned quite far to the rear are reminiscent of the concept car.

While many of the aggressive aerodynamic parts featured on the GT3 appear to have been removed from the street version, the test vehicle for the new supercar that raced around the Nürburgring still featured a variety of aerodynamic devices that generate powerful downforce.

Testing rear wings of different heights

The front features a large splitter, canards, and a bonnet with a pair of NACA ducts. The large air ducts behind the front wheels and the air intakes positioned just in front of the rear wheels also show that the car has paid close attention to airflow.

The towering rear wing appears to be undergoing testing at least two different heights at the moment, and the photo clearly shows that the wing on the test vehicle with the number plate “6035” is attached lower with shorter stays than the one on “6036.”

Will the road car have 900 horsepower?

The prototype does not appear to have a charging port, and it does not have the yellow sticker required for testing electric models at the Nürburgring. Perhaps this test was testing an ICE-only power unit? According to reports from the site, the exhaust sound was quieter than the race-spec GR GT3 we had previously seen. In terms of impact, it was said to be far less impressive than the V10 sound of the LFA, let alone the V8 of the LC 500.

This prototype may not have the production-spec exhaust system, so it’s entirely possible that the sound will change significantly by the time it hits the market. In any case, it’s highly likely that the production model will be equipped with a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine with a hybrid system. Total system output is rumored to be between 800 and 900 PS.

The GR GT3 race car will not debut until the Daytona 24 Hours race in the United States in January 2026. Therefore, it is highly likely that the street car “LFA II” (or LFR) will also have to wait until 2026.

It has been revealed that the road-going version of the Toyota GR GT3, which we previously scooped, is the LFR (or LFA II).

The Lexus LFR production model has finally arrived! A hyper PHEV with a 900-horsepower 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and a price tag of over ¥30 million? [Scoop!]

The successor to the Lexus LFA super sports car, the LFR (commonly known as the LFA II), has been captured on camera for the first time. We previously introduced a prototype of the Toyota GR GT3 race car, and it has now been revealed that this road-going version is the LFR.
