AFEELA 1
A design based on the concept of “oval”

The simple yet harmonious exterior and interior design of the Afila 1 is based on the concept of an oval that envelops the cabin. The photo shows the press conference with SHM Chairman and CEO Yasuhide Mizuno.
The Afila 1, developed as the first fully electric model sold by Sony Honda Mobility (SHM), combines advanced software with high-performance hardware. By making mobility intelligent, an interactive relationship between people and the vehicle is pursued.
The Afila 1 is equipped with an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which reduces the burden on the driver and provides a safe and secure travel experience, as well as an interactive personal agent that enables communication with mobility devices. Inside the cabin, a unique sound system and displays are optimally positioned for each seat, allowing passengers to enjoy a wide variety of apps and entertainment content.
The design prioritizes passenger comfort, and is based on the concept of an “oval” that envelops the cabin, pursuing a universal harmony in every detail of the interior and exterior. The interior is a refined space created in pursuit of the ultimate in mobility, while the exterior features smooth, hard, and taut surfaces that thoroughly eliminate decorative lines and exaggerated surfaces.
The vehicle’s dynamic performance has been designed to create a sense of unity with the driver, achieving light and stable maneuverability. It offers a high-quality ride for all passengers. The interior is made with high-quality functional materials, some of which are plant-derived or recycled materials. Furthermore, the Afila 1’s functionality can be improved and its systems expanded even after purchase thanks to OTA (Over the Air).
Yasuhide Mizuno, Chairman and CEO of Sony Honda Mobility, commented on the Afila 1 as follows:
“Sony Honda Mobility is evolving relationships with people through the intelligence of mobility, bringing innovation to the mobility experience. We are delighted to be able to unveil the Afila 1, developed for the age of autonomous driving, at CES 2025. The Afila 1 is a vehicle that can be called a ‘buddy,’ combining advanced software with thoroughly refined hardware. We will meet our customers’ expectations and provide a safe, secure and comfortable mobility experience.”
Proprietary “ADAS” provides advanced driving assistance

The Afila 1 is equipped with the Afila Intelligent Drive, a driving assistance system developed exclusively by Sony Honda Mobility, which provides advanced driving assistance.
The Afila 1 is equipped with SHM’s proprietary ADAS, “AFEELA Intelligent Drive.” It utilizes data collected by 40 sensors (cameras, LiDAR, radar, and ultrasonic sensors) to sense the surroundings, as well as an electronic control unit (ECU) with a computing power of up to 800 TOPS. AI technology provides advanced driving assistance in each process of “Perception,” “Prediction,” and “Planning.”
The system reduces the driver’s burden by covering the end-to-end route from the departure point to parking at the destination. Furthermore, the surrounding environment and driving situation, which are constantly monitored by the Afila 1, are visualized on the display as “ADAS views and maps” using Unreal Engine, providing the driver with a safe and secure travel experience.
In the cockpit, the driver can control various in-car functions by voice through natural dialogue with the “AFEELA Personal Agent,” and can also enjoy conversations with the agent and receive suggestions for action plans.
The interior features a unique sound system and display optimized for each seat. While driving, passengers can enjoy a wide variety of apps and content from entertainment partners. The car combines Sony Honda Mobility’s unique noise-canceling technology for exceptional quietness, optimally positioned speakers, and Sony’s 360 Spatial Sound Technologies to deliver a high-quality audio experience with an immersive sound field.
