Mercedes-Benz CLA EV
The EV and engine-equipped models have almost the same appearance

It is said that there will be only slight differences in appearance between the EV and ICE models.
A prototype of the next-generation Mercedes-Benz CLA EV spotted in Germany has been stripped of much of its camouflage, revealing the final design. Mercedes says the ICE and EV versions will have almost identical appearances, with only minor differences in the front grille and tailpipes. It’s likely that the tailpipes will be hidden under the bumper on models with engines other than AMG.
Star-shaped DRLs also available on the CLA

The next-generation CLA will also likely feature a star-shaped design for its DRLs and taillights.
The next-generation model features immediately noticeable changes, such as streamlined bodywork and flush-mounted door handles. The cabin has also been completely redesigned, with the current model’s small quarter windows extending to the rear doors now reaching the rear fenders, giving the impression of elongation. The front is equipped with star-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs), a symbol of Mercedes’ future, as well as an evolved single-bar grille and a new bumper.
Will the EV version be released this year?

[1] The platform will be the newly developed “MMA.” [2] The EV version will be available in single-motor, dual-motor and all-wheel drive configurations.
The mass-produced CLA, both its engine-powered and EV models, will use a new platform called MMA (Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture), and will debut as the first of an all-new “entry luxury” model.
For the BEV version, the platform will use an 800V electrical system with DC fast charging capability up to 320kW. Two battery options will be available: 58kWh and 85kWh. Two powerplants are also expected: a single-motor version with a maximum output of 272PS, and a 4Matic version with an additional 109PS motor at the front. The second motor will have a “boost” function that kicks in when extra power or traction is needed, rumored to produce a combined maximum output of around 380PS.
