5 Series Touring expands lineup

At the time of its launch, the 5 Series Touring was introduced with the clean diesel and fully electric i5 models, followed by the high-performance M5. Now, the long-awaited 523i Touring, equipped with a gasoline and mild hybrid engine, has gone on sale in the Japanese market.
The first generation BMW 5 Series model debuted in 1972. The latest generation 5 Series Touring, like the 5 Series Sedan announced in July 2023, will be announced in February 2024, following BMW’s traditional design while featuring a completely new concept.
At the time of its launch, the 5 Series Touring lineup included two models: a clean diesel model equipped with a 48V mild hybrid system, and the fully electric “i5.” In December 2024, the high-performance “M5 Touring” model, which combines a plug-in hybrid system, was added, and now the “523i Touring,” which combines a highly efficient gasoline engine with a 48V mild hybrid system, has been added. This will be the long-awaited entry-level model equipped with a gasoline engine for Japanese customers.
