Volkswagen Passat 2.0 TSI 4MOTION

The long-awaited 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder gasoline turbo engine has been added.

The Volkswagen Tyrone has been expanded with a 2.0 TSI 4MOTION model that can also tow a trailer.

In addition to the popular 2.0 TDI 4MOTION in the European market, sales of the long-awaited 2.0 TSI 4MOTION, equipped with a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder gasoline turbo, have begun. The photo shows the Tyrone 2.0 TSI 4MOTION.

Following the earlier introduction of the Tyrone, Volkswagen will also add models equipped with a powerful turbocharged 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder gasoline engine (TSI) to the Tiguan and Passat. All models are now equipped with the intelligent 4MOTION all-wheel drive system, allowing for trailer towing of up to 2,200 kg (Passat and Tiguan) and 2,500 kg (Tyrone).

The Tiguan and Tayrone are available with two 2.0 TSI 4MOTION engines, delivering 150 kW (204 PS) and 195 kW (265 PS), while the Passat will only be offered with the powerful 195 kW (265 PS) version.

Prices in Europe are as follows: €48,175 for the 150kW Tiguan 2.0 TSI 4MOTION, €50,770 for the Tyrone 2.0 TSI 4MOTION; €62,990 for the 195kW Passat 2.0 TSI 4MOTION, €57,995 for the Tiguan 2.0 TSI 4MOTION, and €59,755 for the Tyrone 2.0 TSI 4MOTION. Orders have already begun in parts of Europe, including Germany.

“4MOTION” for trailer towing

The Volkswagen Tiguan has been expanded with a 2.0 TSI 4MOTION model that can also tow a trailer.

The 4MOTION all-wheel drive system, which is paired with all 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder gasoline turbo engines, intelligently controls the front/rear drive distribution even when towing a trailer.

Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive system provides safety and driving stability in all weather and road conditions. Under normal driving conditions, such as on dry roads where maximum loads are not applied, such as in urban areas, power is transmitted only to the front axle to reduce fuel consumption.

Power is only sent to the rear axle under higher loads or when there is a risk that the wheels will lose grip, although on snowy roads or other surfaces where maximum traction is always required, the driver can manually switch to all-wheel drive.

4MOTION models equipped with the optional ball coupling also demonstrate their intelligence when towing a trailer: When the 4MOTION system detects an attached trailer, the trailer driving profile automatically activates, optimally distributing power delivery between the front and rear axles.
