Two types of gasoline engines available

The BMW X3's stretched exterior was developed exclusively for the Chinese market.

EVs are popular in the Chinese market, and BMW has prepared two different gasoline engine specifications for the stretched version.

The stretched version of the BMW X3 was developed and manufactured exclusively for China to meet customer demand in the Chinese market, and is currently planned to be sold only in the Chinese market. The current X3 is one of BMW’s best-selling models, with sales of 156,000 units in the Chinese market in 2023, accounting for approximately 40% of all BMW X model sales in China.

The wheelbase is 2,975 mm, 111 mm longer than the global X3 model. The entire extension has been used to improve rear seat legroom, resulting in a significant improvement in occupancy. The rear seats come standard with comfort cushions and a center armrest with a built-in wireless charging tray.

The stretch version is available in China with two gasoline engines. The standard X3 xDrive 25L Luxury produces 140 kW (192 PS) and 310 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.7 seconds and reaching a top speed of 214 km/h. The premium X3 xDrive 30L produces 190 kW (261 PS) and 400 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds and reaching a top speed of 239 km/h.

Spacious interior thanks to long wheelbase

The BMW X3's stretched interior was developed exclusively for the Chinese market.

The wheelbase has been extended by 111 mm, resulting in a more spacious rear seat interior, with knee room increased by 96 mm and leg room by 100 mm.

The X3’s wheelbase has been extended by 111 mm, but it maintains the 50:50 weight distribution required of BMW SAVs. BMW claims this achieves near-perfect balance and top-class handling. Furthermore, the extended wheelbase is said to result in smoother, more stable driving characteristics. The spacious interior is particularly noticeable in the rear compartment, where knee room has been increased by 96 mm and leg room by 100 mm.

The cockpit features the latest BMW Operating System 9, a BMW Curved Display, a BMW Interaction Bar, a new steering wheel, color-contrast lighting elements on the center console and door panels, and Veganza Comfort seats as standard, available in three two-tone colors.

The exterior also features details exclusive to the Chinese market. Both the X3 xDrive 25L Luxury and the X3 xDrive 30L come standard with the BMW Iconic Glow kidney grille, and there are five metallic paint options available, including a Frozen finish.

The new X3 was unveiled at the brand store "FREUDE by BMW" in Azabudai, Tokyo.

The new, fourth-generation BMW X3, which has undergone a full model change, is being introduced in Japan. All models are equipped with 48V mild hybrids.

The introduction of the new X3 in Japan was announced at the brand store “FREUDE by BMW” in Azabudai, Tokyo. This is the fourth-generation flagship SAV, with all gasoline and diesel models electrified with a 48V mild hybrid system. The fact that it was introduced less than six months after its world premiere in June this year shows that the Japanese market is being given great importance.
