Prior to the official announcement, a small amount of confidential production was carried out for select customers.

The Black Badge Specter, the most powerful performance Rolls-Royce ever, is being produced in secret in small quantities for select customers ahead of its official launch.

Black Badge Spectre was developed to be the most powerful and bold model in Rolls-Royce history. The decision to build an all-electric model with such immense power was driven by the expectations of Black Badge customers, and required an extraordinary engineering response to meet those expectations.

The all-electric model was developed to embody the “effortless power, responsiveness and precision” that has been a hallmark of Rolls-Royce’s Black Badge line. To ensure this philosophy accurately reflects vehicle usage, Rolls-Royce engineers have access to anonymized driving data from multiple owners, allowing drivetrain specialists to quantitatively analyze driving behavior spanning hundreds of thousands of miles.

Analysis revealed that many customers make the most of short power pulses rather than longer durations. This finding aligned with Rolls-Royce’s development approach, which was carefully developed with these customer groups in mind. The result is the most powerful and dramatic Black Badge Specter in Rolls-Royce’s history.

Chris Brownridge, Chief Executive Officer of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, said of the Rack Badge Spectre:

“Black Badge Specter has been meticulously crafted down to the last detail, and is inspired by our most daring and adventurous customers, who are eager to own this special car and want to share in their fearless spirit.”

“To deliver on this expectation, our engineers have combined data science, extensive feedback and our deep knowledge to create the most powerful Rolls-Royce ever made, with a striking and uncompromising character. Reflecting the unique character of Black Badge, our designers and artisans have used vibrant detailing and sophisticated modern craftsmanship to bring to life an incredibly dramatic and provocative vision.”

Now, in response to numerous customer inquiries, Rolls-Royce is producing a small number of Black Badge Spectres for a select number of specially selected customers, on the condition that ownership remains strictly confidential until the official launch.

Introducing the new “Infinity Mode”

The Black Badge Specter’s incredible power is instantly available thanks to two new technologies: Infinity Mode and Spirited Mode. While these features are new to Rolls-Royce automobiles, their roots are deep in the brand’s history.

Aircraft powered by Rolls-Royce Merlin engines, such as the Supermarine Spitfire of World War II, allowed pilots to instantly gain extra power by pressing a switch on the throttle quadrant (the base of the throttle lever).

The Merlin engine, which was characterized by its robust design, was also capable of temporary power increase, which pilots were required to use during landing. Now, two drive modes have been introduced that incorporate the Merlin engine’s features into the fully electric powertrain.

“Infinity Mode” is activated by pressing the “Infinity Button (∞)” on the steering wheel. This unleashes a maximum output of 485kW (659PS) and provides a more direct throttle response. Activating this mode also changes the instrument display more vividly in response to changes in driving conditions.

The Spirited Mode launch control function allows for an intense and instantaneous acceleration experience. When the car is stationary, the brake and throttle are fully depressed simultaneously, and once the car is ready to launch, the brake is released. Torque output is temporarily boosted to 1075 Nm, unleashing overwhelming propulsion. This results in an impressive 0-60 mph acceleration of 4.1 seconds (0-100 km/h acceleration of 4.3 seconds).

Rolls-Royce’s chassis specialists have also implemented a number of changes to help customers harness Black Badge Specter’s immense power with confidence. Tuned roll stability improves steering feedback and reduces body roll when cornering, while strengthened dampers improve body control and reduce body lean during acceleration and deceleration.

An exterior that thoroughly embraces the aesthetics of darkness

The exterior color is a new color called “Vapor Violet,” inspired by the club culture of the 1980s and 1990s. Customers can also work with a bespoke designer to develop a special color of their choice.

The Black Badge Spectre was officially unveiled in a new “Vapour Violet” paint finish. This deep black-purple hue is inspired by the neon vibes reminiscent of 1980s and 1990s club culture. The Iced Black bonnet adds a bolder contrast to Rolls-Royce’s 44,000-colour “ready-to-wear” palette.

In addition to the existing shoulder and fender coachlines, Black Badge now offers the option of a “Waft” coachline along the lower body, creating a sharp line along the lower third of the vehicle, enhancing its imposing form and generous proportions.

Underfoot, new 23-inch, five-spoke forged aluminium wheels are introduced. Available in either a part-polished or all-black finish, their intricate geometric design subtly expresses the technical complexity and strength of Black Badge. In response to a wider customer base, the new wheel sets will also be available with winter tyres from launch.

Like previous Black Badge models, the signature dark finish on the glossy, mirror-like finish accentuates the car’s “noir” character. This includes the Pantheon grille surround, Spirit of Ecstasy and double “R” Badge of Honor, as well as the door handles, side window surrounds and bumper accents.

Another unique feature that enhances the Black Badge Spectre’s illuminated grille is the new Illuminated Grille Backplate, available in Tailored Purple, Charles Blue, Chartreuse or Forge Yellow, which can also be used as a unique accent to complement the coachline or interior.

Infinity symbols placed on various parts

The interior is dark and typical of Black Badge, with an illuminated fascia and Infinity symbols throughout.

The interior’s illuminated fascia incorporates the Infinity symbol used across the Black Badge range. This emblem, symbolising limitless power, was previously used to mark water speed records, and features a sky-inspired piano black fascia dotted with more than 5,500 sparkling stars of varying sizes.

Surrounding this cutting-edge craftsmanship is an intricate and rich technical fibre surface finish. This diamond-shaped weave combines carbon fibre and metal fibre on a base of black Bolivar wood. The metal fibre is hand-placed in a diamond pattern between layers of carbon fibre, creating a beautiful three-dimensional effect. The exclusive Infinity symbol for Black Badge is also featured on the leather waterfall section separating the rear seats.

Black Badge Specter offers customizable instrument dials in five color themes: Vivid Grellow, Neon Nights, Cyan Fire, Ultraviolet, and Synth Wave. This option allows customers to harmonize their interior design with the digital interface via the SPIRIT operating system.
