Audi RS 3 Sportback / S3 Sedan
First to feature torque splitter on S3

The S3 is the first to feature a “torque splitter” that controls the torque distribution between the left and right rear wheels according to driving conditions. Furthermore, maximum output has been increased to 333 PS. The photo shows the interior of the improved new “S3 Sportback.”
Audi’s high-performance hatchback and sedan, the S3 and RS 3, have been updated with new models. The S3 receives a number of new features in conjunction with this update. The increased maximum power output and the addition of a torque splitter have resulted in significant improvements in driving performance and handling.
The front section features a single-frame grille with a special pattern and L-shaped design elements, as well as large air intakes, while the rear features a specially designed diffuser and a quad-pipe performance exhaust system, enhancing the car’s sporty impression and visually expressing its enhanced driving performance.
The power unit is a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder TFSI engine that produces a maximum output of 245kW (333PS) and a maximum torque of 420Nm, combined with a 7-speed S tronic (DCT) and “quattro” all-wheel drive system. The torque splitter, previously only available on the RS 3, is now also installed in the S3 for the first time. By controlling the torque distribution between the left and right rear axles according to the driving situation, understeer is prevented and agile cornering is achieved.
The suspension is lowered by 10mm from the standard A3, and damping control suspension is also available as an option. The black-based interior comes standard with partial leather sports seats.
The RS 3 breaks the record for fastest car in its class at the Nürburgring

Before its release, the new RS 3 was brought to the Nürburgring Nordschleife for a time attack, setting a new record for the compact production car class with a time of 7 minutes 33.123 seconds.
The RS 3, the pinnacle of the A3 series, was used in a time attack on the Nürburgring Nordschleife with this updated specification, achieving a time of 7 minutes 33.123 seconds, breaking the lap record for the compact production car class.
This update introduces an RS-specific bumper, a single-frame grille with a diamond pattern, large air outlets on the front fenders, and Audi Sport matte black 5Y-spoke design aluminum wheels, giving the car a more dynamic exterior than the previous model.
In conjunction with this update, both the S3 and RS 3 now come standard with digital daytime running lights, which can be selected from four different design patterns via the MMI. The digital daytime running lights are generated using 24 pixel elements arranged in three rows at the top of the matrix LED headlight housing.
The sporty and premium cockpit is newly equipped with Fine Nappa leather sports seats, a double flat-shape steering wheel with a flat top and bottom, a satellite switch that can be quickly switched to RS mode, and the Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus with an RS-exclusive display mode.
The 2.5-liter inline five-cylinder TFSI engine features a unique firing order, giving it the deep sound typical of Audi’s traditional five-cylinder engines. It produces a maximum output of 294 kW (400 PS) and a maximum torque of 500 Nm, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds (European measurement), and reaching a top speed of 280 km/h.
The car is equipped with a torque splitter and “quattro” all-wheel drive system tuned specifically for the RS. Audi drive select now features “RS Torque Rear,” which distributes 100% of torque to the outer rear wheels, allowing for easy drifting, and “RS Performance” mode, which is compatible with semi-slick tires optimized for circuit driving. The suspension has been lowered by 15 mm from the standard model, and improved suspension control allows for high cornering speeds.
