SUZUKI Cappuccino
A rival to the Mazda Roadster?

We can expect the arrival of a compact, affordable model that is fun to drive (photo shows the previous generation Suzuki Cappuccino).
Suzuki is developing a two-seater open-top model, rumored to be released as early as the second half of 2026. While there has been no official announcement from Suzuki, this new two-seater open-top may be named the Cappuccino and serve as a sibling to the Toyota S-FR and the next-generation Daihatsu Copen. Unlike the first-generation Cappuccino, which fit the specifications of a light vehicle, the new model is expected to be larger in size, making it a rival to the Mazda Roadster.
According to some reports, this model is expected to have a length of 3,895 mm and a wheelbase of 2,410 mm, which is close to the Daihatsu Vision Copen Concept (length 3,835 mm, wheelbase 2,415 mm) announced in 2023. By comparison, the Mazda Roadster has a length of 3,915 mm, width 1,730 mm, height 1,235 mm, and wheelbase of 2,310 mm.
Powerful engine drives the rear wheels
Freed from the kei car regulations, Suzuki will be able to offer a more powerful engine for the new Cappuccino. It’s reportedly powered by a 1.3-liter, three-cylinder turbocharged engine from Toyota, producing 120-150 PS. Rumors are also circulating that a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine could be an even more powerful option. It will be rear-wheel drive and available with both automatic and manual transmissions.
While it’s too early to speculate on styling, it’s likely that the car will share some of its main structure and body panels with the Daihatsu Copen and Toyota S-FR to keep development costs down. As seen in renderings based on the Vision Copen, the Suzuki version may incorporate design cues from the Swift, such as a front fascia and unique alloy wheels.
The interior is expected to feature a fully digital cockpit with a minimalist layout similar to the concept car, but it is unclear whether the retractable roof will be fabric or a hardtop.
