Cadillac aims for overall victory at Le Mans

The Cadillac V-Series R took third place at the 2023 Le Mans 24 Hours. In 2025, 75 years after its first race, the car will be aiming for its first overall victory.
The Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO), organizer of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, has approved the entry of a fourth car for Cadillac Racing, which has competed in the race with three hypercars for the past two years.
In the 2025 season, Cadillac will compete in the WEC as Cadillac Hertz Team Jota with two V-Series R cars. This year, marking the 75th anniversary of Cadillac’s first participation in the world’s largest endurance event held at the Circuit de la Sarthe, the company will enter a total of four cars: two from the WEC and two from IMSA.
In 2023, Cadillac Racing’s first year competing in the WEC’s Hypercar class, they finished third and fourth at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 2024, they qualified second and third, but finished seventh. John Ross, Cadillac’s global vice president, commented on the 2025 Le Mans 24 Hours:
“I’m pleased that Cadillac Racing will be competing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with four V-Series.R cars, aiming to win the overall Hypercar class. After achieving our first podium finish in 2023 and a top-10 finish last year, we look forward to building on this success by showcasing the technology, performance and innovation of the V-Series.R in 2025.”
In addition to the WEC regulars, two cars will be entered from IMSA

At the opening WEC race in Qatar, Cadillac secured fourth and fifth grid positions in qualifying and hyperpole. At Le Mans, the team will be joined by two V-Series Rs competing in IMSA.
Cadillac Hertz Team Jota, which competes in the WEC, will enter the No. 12 car (Alex Lynn, Norman Nato, Will Stevens) and the No. 38 car (Earl Bamber, Sébastien Bourdais, Jenson Button) in the 2025 Le Mans 24 Hours. The UK-based Jota Sport team competed with the Porsche 963 until last year, but switched to the Cadillac V-Series.R this season.
Cadillac Wayne Taylor Racing, making its Le Mans debut, has only announced Ricky Taylor as the driver of the No. 101 car, with the rest of the lineup to be announced at a later date. Whelen Cadillac’s No. 311 car will be managed by Action Express Racing. Jack Aitken will serve as the primary driver, and as with the No. 101 car, his teammate will be announced at a later date.
The Cadillac V-Series R was jointly developed by Cadillac Design, Cadillac Racing, and Dallara. It is powered by a Cadillac-built 5.5-liter V8 engine developed by the GM Performance Racing Propulsion Team in Pontiac, Michigan. The exterior features distinctive Cadillac design elements such as vertical headlights and floating blades.
