Cadillac will add a long-wheelbase Escalade IQL to its EV-only Escalade IQ lineup, which will go on sale in mid-2025 as a 2026 model.

The Cadillac Escalade has been an icon in the full-size luxury SUV segment for nearly 25 years since its release. The fully electric version, the Escalade IQ, was introduced in 2024. Now, it has been announced that the long-awaited long-wheelbase Escalade IQL will be added to the lineup starting with the 2026 model.

The Escalade IQL uses the “Ultium” EV-specific architecture and is an all-wheel drive vehicle with one motor on each front and rear axle. It produces a maximum output of 505kW (686PS) in normal mode and a whopping 761PS (560kW) in Velocity Max (boost mode). It is equipped with a 205kWh Ultium battery in the floor, ensuring a claimed maximum driving range of 724km.

With a long wheelbase of 3460mm and a custom-designed rear section, the Escalade IQL maximizes passenger space in all three rows. It’s available in four trims: Luxury, Sport, Premium Luxury, and Premium Sport.

John Ross, vice president of Global Cadillac, commented on the Escalade IQL:

“Escalade has been the best-selling luxury full-size SUV in North America since 2014. The Escalade IQL is an important addition to the Escalade and Cadillac lineup. With the Escalade IQL, Cadillac now offers customers a full range of Escalade options, including powertrain and body size.”

The Escalade IQL will start at $132,695 and will be sold worldwide, including in the United States and Canada, with production beginning in mid-2025 at GM Factory Zero in Detroit.

Spacious interior thanks to a 3460mm wheelbase

The Escalade IQ, which debuted earlier, also had three rows of seats, but the Escalade IQL has a longer wheelbase of 3,460 mm, which means the third row of seats have more interior space and also provides a larger luggage space.

The Escalade IQL features a special design featuring a sleek roofline. The long wheelbase ensures ample space for the third-row seats and ample luggage space. The interior carries over the luxurious equipment introduced in the Escalade IQ. The cockpit is equipped with a large 55-inch display, and various functions are provided by Android Automotive via a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

The wheelbase was extended to 3460mm, providing 35.5″ of legroom and 37.5″ of headroom in the third row, more than 100mm more than the Escalade IQ. The Escalade IQL also offered an optional Executive Second Row package featuring luxurious equipment.

The Executive Second Row package adds a stowable tray table, a 12.6-inch personal screen, a rear command center, a dual wireless phone charging pad, and heated and ventilated massage seats (plus headrest speakers).

The luggage space has a generous 686L when the third row is in use. The third row seats are electrically foldable, and by storing the third row, the space can be expanded to 2135L, and by folding the second and third rows, the space can be expanded to 3546L. The front bonnet also features a 345.4L “eTrunk.”

The Lyriq will be Cadillac's first mass-produced BEV vehicle, and will use an architecture called Ultium, which has been developed under the auspices of GM.

Cadillac’s latest BEV, the Lyriq, is a luxury electric vehicle that is a modern reinterpretation of the good old American style of the 1950s and 1960s.

The Lyriq is the first electric vehicle from the American luxury brand Cadillac. It is the latest model to use GM’s Ultium architecture for new generation EVs. We took our first test drive of this luxury EV, which boasts a maximum range of 483km.
