The exterior design of the next-generation Toyota RAV4 will be significantly updated, adopting Toyota’s latest design language seen on the Prius and Camry. The CG projection was created based on internal documents obtained by our scoop team and prototype sightings, and should be quite close to the final design. The front end features an updated hammerhead inner section and LED daytime running lights with a new grille. The final design is expected to be more boxy.
The RAV4 maintains its distinctive silhouette with a two-tone roof option and boldly contrasting wheel arch moldings. At the rear, slightly curved L-shaped taillights are connected by a slim LDE bar, and plastic moldings are visible at the bottom.
A fully electric version?

The next-generation model will use an improved version of the “TNGA-K” platform. The overall length is expected to be extended by 40 mm and the wheelbase by 30 mm, expanding the body. This will likely increase the interior space and improve driving performance at high speeds. Crashworthiness will also likely be improved to comply with increasingly stringent crash tests.
There are rumors that the powertrain will be a newly developed 1.6-liter turbo engine, but it is unlikely that it will be used in the next-generation RAV4. The lineup will likely consist of a 2.0-liter inline-four “Dynamic Force Engine” engine, a hybrid that combines this with a motor, and a plug-in hybrid with a 2.5-liter inline-four engine and dual motors.
The PHEV version is expected to have a maximum output of over 300 PS and an EV driving range of around 100 km. Although details have not been revealed, a fully electric version is also said to be under consideration.
The world premiere of the next-generation RAV4 is likely to be after the summer of 2025. There is a high possibility that the next-generation model will also be introduced to the Japanese market.
