AUDI RS 5 Avant

RS-like equipment and aerodynamically efficient design

Photos of the Audi RS 5 Avant prototype, captured in the mountains of northern Sweden, reveal details such as a new version of the Singleframe grille, which appears to emphasize the underbite design seen on new models such as the recently launched A3 family.

The front bumper houses a huge intake that cools the radiator and intercooler, and also directs cool air to the brakes to prevent them from overheating on long journeys. Vents behind the fenders should help vent air (snow, in this case) to reduce drag.

The suspension is fitted with huge brake rotors, and the rear is equipped with a large-diameter oval exhaust pipe, a characteristic of the RS.

Different color rear bumper

Looking at the rear bumper, we can see red paint. We thought it might be a decal, but since red can also be seen in the seams under the hatch, it’s definitely the body color “Progressive Red.” However, the front fenders of this prototype are dark gray. It’s unclear why one car has different paint jobs, but it’s possible that they’re trying out different colored bumpers to test how they change depending on temperature and other conditions.

Over 600PS with electric assist

The RS 5 will reportedly be equipped with a 2.9-liter V6 twin-turbo engine, similar to the previous RS 4. It is highly likely that this will be combined with a plug-in hybrid system. It is rumored that the maximum output will be greater than the current V6’s 444 PS, with the system’s maximum output exceeding 600 PS.

The Audi RS 5 Series is likely to be unveiled in the second half of 2025. Audi recently changed its model naming strategy, abandoning plans to assign odd numbers to internal combustion engine models and even numbers to EVs, but models that have already switched, such as the A5, will retain their current names.

Jaguar's first new EV sedan model in a long time has been put to the test in snowy Sweden.

Last year, Jaguar unveiled the Type 00 Concept, a luxury electric sedan. The production prototype was captured on camera for the first time by our scoop team. With the introduction of the new EV, Jaguar plans to say goodbye to engines and become a luxury electric vehicle brand.
