BMW rushes to adopt “Neue Klasse”

BMW appears to be accelerating its adoption of the “Neue Klasse” design.
The updated BMW M5 Sedan appears to be adopting the cutting-edge design that was being considered for the Neue Klasse generation of electric vehicles. The latest design, which will debut on the new iX3 in the coming months, is also scheduled to be adopted for the next-generation X5 and the ninth-generation 3 Series. BMW’s plans to give the newly released M5 a facelift suggest that it is rushing this design strategy.
Mainly front and rear updates?

[1] The most significant changes appear to be concentrated in the front end. [2] The rear section as well as the entire body are covered in camouflage, which could mean some relatively extensive exterior changes.
The front end appears to have been revised in the Neue Klasse style with a shorter grille leading to new headlights, and we can also see that the car has a new front bumper with a different opening compared to the current model.
Looking at the car’s undercarriage, we can see that it is equipped with ceramic brakes inside the huge alloy wheels, and since the rear section is also completely camouflaged, we can expect the taillight design to be revamped as well.
Has the interior been updated to the latest specifications?

The interior was not confirmed, but it is possible that it will be equipped with the latest digital technology.
The car is also expected to feature BMW Panoramic iDrive and BMW Operating System X, which were unveiled at CES 2025 (Consumer Electronics Show 2025) in January. The wide screen, which also functions as a head-up display, is divided into three sections, and all but the digital instrument cluster will be customizable with widgets. A new multifunction steering wheel replacing the iDrive Controller is also likely to be installed.
No changes to the powertrain

The powertrain is likely to remain unchanged from the current V8 engine + plug-in hybrid system.
As this update focuses on style and technology, it is expected that there will be few changes to the powertrain. The current model is equipped with a 4.4-liter V8 twin-turbo engine, which is combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a 14.8 kWh battery and motor to form a plug-in hybrid.
