Audi Q6 e-tron

Adopts the new generation BEV platform “PPE”

The Audi Q6 e-tron is the first Audi model developed based on the “Premium Platform Electric (PPE),” a fully electric powertrain jointly developed by Porsche and Audi. The photo shows the launch event.

The Audi Q6 e-tron series is the first Audi production model based on the BEV platform “Premium Platform Electric (PPE)” jointly developed by Audi and Porsche. It was developed as a next-generation electric SUV that combines the sophisticated style of the Q series with the design language of the fully electric model “e-tron.”

The Q6 e-tron, built using cutting-edge sustainable production systems and initiatives, boasts excellent driving performance, fast charging, and a maximum range of 672 km (SQ6 e-tron). It combines sporty performance with ease of everyday use.

The Q6 e-tron model family was developed as the first electric vehicle to be produced at the Audi plant in Ingolstadt, Germany, where the company is headquartered. Audi’s current commitment to sustainability means that existing structures and systems are being utilized to ensure the Q6 e-tron series is produced sustainably and efficiently.

A flowing silhouette typical of Q models

The exterior of the Audi Q6 e-tron, which has just been introduced in Japan.

The platform is “PPE,” giving the car the dynamic silhouette typical of the Q model and a spacious interior despite its compact size.

The body measures 4770mm in length, 1940mm in width, 1695mm in height, and 2895mm in wheelbase, providing ample interior space and stable proportions. The adoption of PPE results in a long wheelbase and extremely short overhangs, creating a dynamic silhouette typical of the Q model.

The exterior design features a flowing form that gives an overall soft impression, but sharp lines and edges create contrast, giving the car a dynamic presence even when stationary. The upright front section features a fully enclosed, three-dimensional Singleframe and side air intakes that form the front face. High-positioned digital daytime running lights create a distinctive look.

The side sections create a sense of tension as the powerful body shape extends towards the rear, and the window area tapers slightly towards the rear, allowing the gently sloping D-pillars to flow elegantly into the muscular shoulders. The black edging between the D-pillars and the roof lengthens the cabin and gives the overall vehicle a dynamic impression.

The rear section, with a flowing line from the taillights to the rear door, highlights the “quattro” blister at the bottom of the D-pillar. Combined with this, the clean taillights with a wide light strip give the car a sophisticated and calm look that is typical of Audi.

An interior that combines digital and recycled materials

The interior of the Audi Q6 e-tron, which has just been introduced in Japan.

The interior features an MMI panoramic display and an MMI passenger display in the cockpit, combined with soft wrap trim for a softer look.

The interior emphasizes design and ergonomics, creating a space optimized for passengers. A three-dimensional, high-contrast 3D design is used, with elements positioned in the foreground and background to create depth and sophisticated beauty. The “MMI Panoramic Display” and “MMI Passenger Display” located in the cockpit project clear digital images and provide intuitive operability.

The slim, freestanding “MMI Panorama Display” features a curved design and OLED technology, and is comprised of an 11.9-inch Virtual Cockpit Plus and a 14.5-inch MMI touch display. The driver’s area features a curved design with a concave display facing the driver. The front passenger seat is equipped with a 10.9-inch MMI passenger display with active privacy mode.

The soft-wrap trim extends seamlessly from the doors through the cockpit and onto the center console, creating a harmonious, enveloping space for passengers. The seats are made of high-quality materials in the same color, some of which are recycled materials. Comfort-focused areas feature soft materials that emphasize the spacious feel. The controls are finished in a high-quality high-gloss black.

The adoption of PPE combines a sense of spaciousness with livability, achieving high practicality. The long wheelbase and the design without a center tunnel, unique to electric vehicles, further improve the comfort of the rear center seat. The trunk capacity is 526L, and by folding down the three-split folding rear seats (40:20:40), the storage space can be expanded to a maximum of 1529L. In addition, 64L of storage space is provided in the frunk (front trunk) under the front bonnet.

Sporty driving and excellent efficiency

The Q6 e-tron offers a wide range of powertrains and drive systems. The sports model, the SQ6 e-tron, has a maximum driving range of 672km.

The Q6 e-tron combines excellent performance with a long driving range thanks to a powerful, compact, and highly efficient electric motor and a newly developed lithium-ion battery. The lithium-ion battery is made up of 12 modules and 180 prismatic cells, boasting a total capacity of 100 kWh (total energy 94.9 kWh). The 185 kW (252 PS) model has a driving range of 569 km, the 285 kW (388 PS) model has a driving range of 644 km, and the sports grade “SQ6 e-tron” has a driving range of 672 km.

The rear-wheel-drive version is equipped with an 83kWh battery and a single rear-mounted electric motor that produces 185kW. The all-wheel-drive e-tron quattro is equipped with a 100kWh battery and delivers a system output of 285kW. The SQ6 e-tron is equipped with a 100kWh battery and boasts a maximum system output of 360kW (490PS) (380kW = 517PS with launch control), accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in 4.3 seconds (with launch control) and reaching a top speed of 230km/h.

The Q6 e-tron is equipped with an advanced recuperation system, which covers around 95 percent of everyday braking processes with regenerative braking and recovers up to 220 kW of energy. The standard battery uses 800V technology, with a maximum charging output of 270 kW in Europe. Using an optimal high-power charging station (HPC), the battery can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent of its state of charge (SoC) in around 21 minutes.

In Japan, when using a 150kW ChAdeMO charger, it supports rapid charging of up to 135kW, and can charge from 10% to 80% SoC in approximately 35 minutes.
