BMW M2 CS

30kg lighter than the base M2

The M2 CS is 30 kg lighter than the current M2 on which it is based.

The BMW M2 is a high-performance compact two-door coupe launched in June 2024. Based on the new M2, the company has developed the top-of-the-line M2 CS, which increases the maximum output of its 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder twin-turbo engine by 50 PS to 530 PS and features exclusive parts. The M2 CS drives the rear wheels via an eight-speed M Steptronic with Drivelogic as standard, achieving performance comparable to the higher-end M3 Competition Sedan and M4 Competition Coupe.

BMW M GmbH has shaved approximately 30 kg off the standard M2, thanks to the use of numerous exterior parts made from carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), including a specially designed rear diffuser. The car also comes equipped with BMW M lightweight forged alloy wheels as standard.

Adaptive LED headlights and M Light Shadow Line with dark inlays are standard, and the exterior color lineup includes four options: Sapphire Black Metallic, Velvet Blue Metallic, M Brooklyn Gray Metallic, and M Portimao Blue Metallic.

Like the M2 Racing, the M2 CS will be produced at the BMW Group’s San Luis Potosi plant in Mexico. Like the special models developed by BMW M GmbH, the M2 CS will be produced in limited numbers. Prices in Germany start from 115,000 euros. The main sales markets will be Germany, the United States, and China, with introduction scheduled to begin in late summer 2025. At this time, there has been no announcement regarding its introduction to the Japanese market.

Delivers a maximum output of 530 PS and a maximum torque of 650 Nm

The top-of-the-line M2 model, the M2 CS, features a 3.0-liter inline-6 twin-turbo engine.

The 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder twin-turbo engine has been tuned by BMW M and produces a maximum output of 530 PS and a maximum torque of 650 Nm.

For the M2 CS, BMW M has updated the 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder twin-turbo engine with motorsport feedback. Changes to engine management have increased maximum torque by 50Nm to 650Nm and maximum power by 50PS to 530PS compared to the standard M2.

BMW M has optimised accelerator mapping and response in all drive modes selectable in the engine management M setup menu. A dedicated cooling system maintains the powertrain at an optimum operating temperature, even during high-load driving such as on the race track. The oil supply has been designed to handle extreme dynamic situations, and a map-controlled oil pump ensures reliable oil supply even during extreme acceleration.

The rear wheels are driven by an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic as standard. The Drivelogic button built into the selector lever in the cockpit allows the driver to select one of three transmission shift characteristics. The dedicated M Design selector lever and steering wheel shift paddles allow for instantaneous gear changes.

Acceleration from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.8 seconds

Thanks to significant weight reduction, an updated power unit, and special chassis tuning, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h has been improved to 3.8 seconds, 0.2 seconds faster than the base model.

The chassis has been lowered by 8mm and the springs, dampers and chassis control systems have been specially tuned for the M2 CS, significantly improving driving dynamics in all situations. The settings of the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and M Dynamic Mode have been optimised to meet the demands of track driving.

The standard “Adaptive M Chassis” includes M Servotronic steering and an M Sport differential, with exclusive settings introduced by BMW M. The “M Compound Brake System” with red brake calipers is standard, and an “M Carbon Ceramic Brake System” can be selected as an option.

The 0-100 km/h time breaks the four-second barrier, coming in at 3.8 seconds, 0.2 seconds faster than the standard M2. 0-200 km/h acceleration is 1.2 seconds faster at 11.7 seconds. The M Driver’s Package is standard, and the top speed is electronically limited to 302 km/h.

The car is equipped with an M-specific exhaust system with electrically controlled flaps and matte black M quad exhaust pipes exclusive to the M2 CS. For the first time, the M Performance silencer system with carbon and titanium tailpipe trims is available as an M Performance Parts exclusive to the M2 CS.

“M Carbon Bucket Seats” are standard equipment

The lightweight and secure “M Carbon Bucket Seat” is standard equipment. The seat surface is made of Merino leather.

The cockpit is primarily made of Alcantara and combines lightweight components. The center console is made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), and the driver and passenger seats are equipped with heated M Carbon bucket seats. The seat surfaces are Merino leather, the integrated headrests are removable, and a multi-point harness can be installed as an option.

The standard equipment includes an “M Alcantara steering wheel” with a three-spoke, flat-bottom design, gearshift paddles, a red center marker at 12 o’clock, and two M buttons. A heated version is also available as an option. The trim elements on the instrument panel and center console are made of “M carbon fiber.” Many details exclusive to the M2 CS have been added, such as the “CS” logo on the center console and door trim panels, M seat belts, and entry door sill plates.
