The GLC is a best-selling crossover that has now become a mainstay of Mercedes-Benz. Among them, the Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 4MATIC reigns supreme as a high-performance model bearing the AMG designation. The Audi Q6 e-tron quattro advanced is a fully electric crossover based on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE), jointly developed with Porsche. The quattro is an AWD model with motors positioned at the front and rear.

According to the specs, the Q6 is 20mm longer, 20mm wider, and 55mm taller, but the sense of size is almost the same. The Q6, which is clad in the new generation Audi design language, is extremely simple, with a large three-pointed star on vertical louvers, giving it an appearance that contrasts with the aggressive and imposing GLC 43 4MATIC.

Small displacement but powerful power thanks to electric turbo

The GLC 43 4MATIC, which combines a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder gasoline engine with an electric turbocharger from the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 team, has a maximum output that exceeds the Q6 by 34 PS. However, in terms of maximum torque, the Q6 wins, as it overwhelms the GLC with just the rear motor.

The BEV Q6 has the irreplaceable appeal of direct acceleration power provided by the motor, which will be especially useful in urban areas with frequent stop-and-go traffic. In addition, despite being a BEV, it has a range of 644km, which is enough to stand up to comparisons with ICE vehicles.

The Q6’s soft interior features a soft wrap

The wheelbase remains almost the same, and the GLC 43 4MATIC and Q6 offer ample interior space as mid-size crossovers. The BEV Q6 has 64 liters of storage space in the front bonnet in addition to the rear luggage space.

Both models are in line with the latest trends, with a large display placed functionally in the cockpit. While the GLC 43 4MATIC makes extensive use of chrome parts for ventilation and trim, the Q6 uses a soft wrap with a soft feel, resulting in contrasting interior styles between the Mercedes-AMG and Audi.

In terms of price, the GLC 43 4MATIC is priced at 11.94 million yen, about 2 million yen more than the Q6 e-tron quattro. With BEVs now offering sufficient practicality and a realistic price, it could be said that the environment is now in place for them to be compared fairly with ICE-powered models. The Q6 also offers a high-performance “SQ6 e-tron” model, boasting a maximum system output of 516 PS, which carries a price tag of 13.2 million yen.
