The car is equipped with a specially tuned 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbo engine, the VR35DDTT, which produces a maximum output of 501 PS and a maximum torque of 700 Nm.

NISMO is a high-performance brand born from Nissan’s motorsports activities, and develops the NISMO Road Car Series, incorporating the experience and technology cultivated in the racing scene. The new Patrol NISMO, which will be introduced to the Middle East market, was developed by a team that specializes in developing high-performance models, combining the power of an SUV with advanced technology derived from the circuit.

In addition to a specially tuned 3.5-liter V6 twin-turbo engine and a special exterior that is instantly recognizable as a NISMO model, it also features a special suspension and exhaust system, achieving high driving performance befitting the NISMO road car series.

The VR35DDTT engine has been specially tuned for NISMO, delivering a maximum output of 501 PS and a maximum torque of 700 Nm. Produced at Nissan’s Iwaki Plant, this engine is fitted with a red engine cover and special metal plate exclusive to NISMO. Furthermore, the 9-speed automatic transmission and paddle shifters, tuned to match the engine’s high output, allow the driver to enjoy a direct driving sensation not only at high speeds but also on mountain roads.

Special exterior for improved driving performance

The Patrol NISMO features exclusive exterior features that improve driving performance, including a newly designed front bumper and aerodynamic diffuser.

The newly designed front bumper is designed to improve brake cooling performance, reducing brake disc temperatures by 6% to ensure stable braking even during high-load driving. In addition, the rear aerodynamic diffuser not only has a powerful form but is also designed to enhance aerodynamic performance, improving stability and handling at high speeds.

The front section features a “V-motion grille” constructed with vertical and horizontal lines and a three-dimensional honeycomb mesh, optimizing airflow to the radiator. In addition, air curtains on the left and right sides of the front bumper and a canard-shaped front spoiler control the flow of air, reducing air resistance at high speeds and improving downforce levels.

The rear section features a larger rear spoiler. A layered diffuser-shaped rear bumper with overlapping edges has been introduced, arranging the airflow behind the vehicle and reducing air resistance. Furthermore, air splitters have been placed on both ends of the bumper, ideally separating the airflow on the body sides. Red accents have also been added to various parts of the body to highlight the “NISMO” specifications.

Special sports seats with red suede

The sports seats, which provide excellent support, are made up of a combination of genuine leather and red suede-like upholstery, and the headrests are embroidered with the NISMO logo.

The interior features a black dashboard, seats, steering wheel, and door panels, with elaborate metal finishers and luxurious suede upholstery. Red seat belts, starter switch, and carbon-look trim are placed in various places to create an atmosphere befitting a high-performance model.

The sports seats, with the “NISMO” logo embroidered on the headrests, combine genuine leather and red suede-like upholstery, and feature an electric bolster adjustment function to hold your body firmly in place while driving. Aluminum accelerator and brake pedals also add to the sporty feel.

The exterior colors are available in four standard colors: White Pearl, Gray Metallic, Blue Metallic, and Black Pearl, plus the NISMO-exclusive NISMO Stealth Gray. By combining monotone and two-tone finishes, there are six exterior colors to choose from.

Chassis with various updates

The suspension is equipped with electronically controlled dampers updated by NISMO, and the electronically controlled power steering has also been specially tuned.

The Patrol NISMO incorporates all of NISMO’s motorsports knowledge. The electronically controlled dampers, tuned by NISMO, automatically adjust damping force in real time. Improved control responsiveness combines sharp cornering performance with stability during high-speed cruising in desert areas.

In conjunction with the suspension update, the electronically controlled power steering has also been specially tuned. At low speeds in urban areas, the steering force has been lightened to emphasize maneuverability. At high speeds, the steering force has been adjusted to allow the driver to accurately grasp road conditions and feel a sense of stability.

Taking into account the engine’s increased power output, a special exhaust system has been adopted that delivers a deep and powerful sound. Combined with the Active Sound Enhancement (ASE) system, which has the effect of improving the quality of the engine sound, the driver can feel an unprecedented sense of exhilaration.

The wheels are 22-inch, 9-spoke forged aluminum wheels jointly developed with RAYS. The rim width has been widened to achieve both light weight and high rigidity. The wheel openings are not only aesthetically pleasing, but also functional, improving the cooling effect of the brakes.

“Nissan’s cross-country 4WD, known only to those in the know” – Test drive of the new “Patrol” in the Middle East, the mecca of 4WDs

The Nissan Patrol was a compact off-road model that was primarily supplied to government agencies, such as police and fire departments. It later evolved into the Safari, but disappeared from Japan in the late 2000s. However, it continues to be sold overseas, and the seventh-generation model has just debuted. Riding the wave of SUV popularity, will it be relaunched in Japan? (Reprinted and restructured from the March 2025 issue of GENROQ)
