Range Rover Sport exudes a unique presence

The Range Rover Sport, which underwent a full model change in 2022 and evolved into its third generation, is the second luxury SUV in Land Rover’s current lineup after the Range Rover, and is highly popular in the Japanese market. Among the various powertrains available, this time we’ve picked out the entry-level model, the Range Rover Sport S D300, which is equipped with a 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder diesel turbo.

In 2023, Porsche will introduce a new and improved Cayenne, which will undergo a near-full model change, including interior and exterior upgrades including the introduction of matrix LED headlights. The entry-level model, equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 gasoline turbo, is available in Japan at the same price range as the Range Rover Sport, and will be compared.

The Range Rover Sport is 30mm longer, 100mm longer, and 120mm taller than the Cayenne. Its short overhangs and long wheelbase create a distinctive Range Rover look, while its wheelbase and height also provide the added advantage of comfortable rear seat space.

Cayenne’s performance is overwhelming with its power

The Range Rover Sport S is equipped with a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder “INGENIUM” turbo diesel engine that produces a maximum output of 300 PS and a 48V mild hybrid system developed exclusively by Land Rover. In addition to the motor support when starting, the powerful torque of 650 Nm is particularly effective when driving around town.

The Cayenne, on the other hand, is equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 gasoline turbo that outperforms the Range Rover Sport S by 53 PS in maximum output. The Cayenne, with its lighter weight and greater power, wins in both top speed and 0-100 km/h acceleration.

A simple and beautiful interior reminiscent of high-end furniture

The interior of the Range Rover Sport uses UltraFabric, a lightweight, environmentally friendly non-leather material. The 13.1-inch curved touchscreen is positioned in a floating position, boasting a high quality feel reminiscent of carefully crafted luxury furniture. The Cayenne’s cockpit has been completely redesigned with the updated model. A curved, fully digital 12.6-inch meter panel is combined with a 12.3-inch Porsche Communication Management (PCM) center display.

The two cars have the same price tag of around 12 million yen, but their positions are in stark contrast. While the Cayenne has a cockpit and driving performance reminiscent of the 911, the Range Rover Sport offers a luxurious and comfortable interior that is worthy of the name “Range Rover,” one of the UK’s finest cross-country vehicles.

Both models are available in a variety of versions, including highly efficient plug-in hybrids and high-performance models that offer driving performance comparable to that of a sports car, offering a wide range of options to meet all needs. Why not choose from this wide range of options to suit your lifestyle and usage environment?

Test drive of the top-of-the-line non-hybrid model, the Cayenne GTS: “A finish that lives up to its traditional name”

In the Porsche lineup, the GTS designation is given to the sportiest grade outside of the so-called turbo models. The GTS, which has been added to the new Cayenne, is equipped with a V8 twin-turbo engine instead of the conventional V6, further refining its sporty performance.
