BMW M3 CS Touring
Breaking the previous lap record by over five seconds

This time, with Jörg Weidinger at the wheel, the car recorded a time of 7 minutes 29.490 seconds, beating the previous record of 7 minutes 35.060 seconds set by the M3 Touring by more than five seconds.
In April 2025, Jörg Weidinger, a development engineer at BMW M GmbH with extensive circuit attack experience, undertook a time attack on the Nürburgring Nordschleife (north course) in a BMW M3 CS Touring, becoming the first station wagon to break the 7 minutes 30 seconds barrier.
The BMW M3 CS Touring’s lap time of 7 minutes 29.490 seconds on one of the world’s most challenging circuits, measuring 20.823 km in length, is a new record for a station wagon in the mid-size category. It is also the fastest lap time ever achieved by a wagon body at the Nürburgring. The previous record was 7 minutes 35.060 seconds, set by the M3 Touring in 2022.
At the Nürburgring, the midsize category was dominated by the latest models of the M3 and M4 series. The M4 CSL held the fastest lap time of 7 minutes 18.137 seconds, followed by the M4 CS at 7 minutes 21.989 seconds and the M3 CS at 7 minutes 28.760 seconds. In the latest time attack, the M3 CS Touring recorded an impressive time of 7 minutes 29.490 seconds, within one second of the sedan body.
François van Meel, CEO of BMW M GmbH, expressed his delight at the new record set by the M3 CS Touring:
“We knew the BMW M3 CS Touring would set new standards in terms of driving dynamics right from its launch. Now, with a time of under seven minutes and 30 seconds on the Nordschleife, we are confident that this car perfectly combines racing-car-like driving performance with ease of use for everyday driving.”
The deep relationship between the Nürburgring and BMW M

BMW M’s test center is located at the Nürburgring and serves as the headquarters for development and testing.
The relationship between BMW M and the Nürburgring is long and deep. The BMW M Test Centre at the Nürburgring boasts highly specialized infrastructure and an ideal location, serving as a base for developing and testing new cars under the most demanding conditions. The partnership between BMW M and the Nürburgring has continued for more than 25 years, and landmarks such as the BMW M Power Grandstand and the BMW M Bridge highlight this strong bond.
The BMW M Power Showroom on the premises will be renovated and reopened in 2021. Currently, the BMW M Driving Experience, a circuit event held regularly at the Nürburgring, allows avid BMW M fans to drive on the Nürburgring’s demanding course under the guidance of professional drivers.
The Nürburgring has not only been a development and testing base, but has also played an important role in BMW’s motorsports activities. BMW has achieved 21 overall victories in the Nürburgring 24 Hours race, as well as numerous class victories. In 2025, ROWE Racing’s M4 GT3 came from 17th on the grid to take the overall victory.
