Aventador S
In 2023, Lamborghini unveiled its new flagship super sports car, the Revuelto, at the New York Motor Show, replacing the Aventador, which had been at the top of the lineup for over a decade.
The Revuelto is equipped with a plug-in hybrid powertrain that combines a 6.5-liter V12 engine with a motor. Lamborghini calls this PHEV powertrain “High Performance EV (HPEV).” This time, we will compare the Revuelto with the Aventador S, its predecessor in the lineage of V12 flagships that continues from the Countach. Its edgy exterior is still highly popular around the world.
The Revuelto’s exterior, inspired by aerospace engineering, is a bold new interpretation of the hexagon and Y motifs that are symbolic of Lamborghini. Comparing it to the simple lines of the Aventador S makes it easier to understand its complex design. The body size is 160mm longer and the wheelbase 79mm longer than the Aventador S. In terms of weight, the Revuelto is 197kg heavier, partly due to the hybrid system.

Body size = Length 4947 x Width 2033 x Height 1160 mm
Wheelbase = 2779 mm
Dry weight = 1772 kg
Tire size = 265/35ZR20 (front), 345/30ZR21 (rear)

The Revuelto features a 6.5-liter V12 naturally aspirated engine mounted in the rear mid-mounted position, two motors on the front axle, and one motor integrated into an 8-speed DCT, incorporating a plug-in hybrid system. The system’s maximum output exceeds 1000 PS, and even the engine’s output alone exceeds that of the Aventador S by 85 PS. While the top speed remains the same at 350 km/h, the 0-100 km/h acceleration time has been improved by an astonishing 2.5 seconds, an improvement of 0.4 seconds.
Lamborghini Revuelto
Engine type = V12 naturally aspirated + 3 motors
Displacement = 6498.5cc
Maximum output = 825PS / 9250rpm
Maximum torque = 725Nm / 6750rpm
System maximum output = 1015PS
Transmission = 8-speed DCT
Drive system = AWD
Top speed = 350km/h
0-100km/h acceleration = 2.5 seconds
Lamborghini Aventador S
Engine type = V12 naturally aspirated engine
Displacement = 6498cc
Maximum output = 740PS / 8400rpm
Maximum torque = 690Nm / 5500rpm
Transmission = 7-speed ISR (RMT)
Drive system = AWD
Top speed = 350km/h
Acceleration from 0 to 100km/h = 2.9 seconds
The inevitable electrification of super sports cars

Like the exterior, the Revuelto’s cockpit is designed with a space theme. It features a 12.3-inch digital cockpit in the meter nacelle and an 8.4-inch information system in the center console. There’s also a 9.1-inch passenger display on the passenger side.
In contrast, the cockpit of the Aventador S, with its large display and numerous physical switches, makes it seem as though more than 10 years have passed since its inception. However, the interior, lavishly appointed with carbon fiber and real leather, still welcomes the driver with a special atmosphere.
The automotive industry has seen a paradigm shift towards electrification from the 2010s to the 2020s. This trend is no exception in super sports cars, where performance is at the forefront, and Lamborghini has taken the plunge into hybridizing its V12 flagship. The Revuelto has over 1000 PS, but can travel around 10km on the motor alone.
However, even now that the latest Revuelto has been released, the appeal of the Aventador S, which has matured to the pinnacle of its status as the ultimate V12 machine, has not faded in the slightest. There are also some excellent examples with low mileage available on the used car market, so it might be interesting to choose the last internal combustion V12 flagship.
